Daniel Benson is a Nigerian artist signed under Burna Boy’s record Label, Spaceship records. He is popularly known as Buju and sometimes called Bujutoyourears. In an interview with Afrokonnect, Buju claims that he has always been a huge fan of Burna Boy and getting signed under his record label means a lot to him.

Buju has worked with Zlatan in the past and he recently did a remix of his single ‘Lenu’ with Burnaboy. However, the song that people won’t stop talking about is the ‘Feeling’ remix with Ladipoe, a popular Nigerian music with international recognition.

Buju is 23 years old Akwa Ibom indigene that rose to fame at a very young age and is gradually becoming a force to reckon with in the Nigerian music industry. Here are five things you don’t know about Buju.

  1. Buju stands for ‘Beauty Underneath Just Understood’. We don’t know how he came up with that but it is a deep meaning to his name.
  2. Buju is from Akwa Ibom but he grew up in Gbagada, Lagos and speaks Yoruba fluently.
  3. Buju started writing music as early as Junior Secondary School (JSS 1), around 2011.
  4. He was sacked from his IT job because all he was interested in was music.
  5. Buju released his first record ‘Catch a Vibe’ in 2018.

We said five but here is a bonus fun fact about Buju: Buju called himself Drizzle in Secondary School and his Stage name, Buju came later and was inspired by Jamaican recording artist Buju Banton.
